Conceived in 2017, #girltalk is an original theater piece written and performed by ACOG+ students. The work gives voice to the thoughts, experiences, and feelings of today’s young women, asking powerful questions:
>>> What if I controlled my narrative? <<<
>>>What if I had the power? <<<
>>>How would that feel? <<<
Both the original version and later iterations concluded with the line, “If you’re lucky enough, you’ll find a place like A Company of Girls…” — followed by reflections on how ACOG+ provided support, belonging, and a space to be heard.
The show has since been re-written to include the experiences of different groups of students and performed at events, including Portland’s Fringe Festival, First Friday Art Walk, and ACOG+’s Empow{h}er Fundraiser.
